What is FormSaver?
FormSaver is a W*API Plugin for Macintosh web servers.
FormSaver works with WebStar, WebStar SSL, AppleShare IP, and Quid Pro Quo,
as well as other compatible web servers.
FormSaver allows you to easily implement HTML forms for user feedback.
FormSaver takes all the information entered on the form and saves it into a
tab-delimited file. Next, if all goes well, a custom response file is
loaded up and displayed to the user. The owner of the page can download
this tab-delimited file on a regular basis and import it into any
database program. The user can do this on any platform, be it Mac, PC,
or Unix, because all the data is stored in a plain text file. The output
file is called filename.fs, assuming your HTML file is called
filename.html. And it is saved in the same directory as the HTML file.
Now Available: FormSaver.Net
Loosely based on FormSaver, FormSaver.Net is a hosted
application which allows you to create forms.
We refer to it as a hosted application because your form actually resides on our web servers.
You simply link to the form! No HTML or scripting necessary! No Software to install!
The data is saved in our database, which you can export as a text file, excel file, or view on the web.
FormSaver.Net is a service of Pliner.Net.
There are three versions of FormSaver:
FormSaver Plus allows you to customize the response that users see after they fill out your form.
Why should I use FormSaver, as opposed to the alternatives?
- FormSaver is not a script, its an actual program written in C++. This makes it
much faster than scripting alternatives.
- FormSaver does not require a database program to run on your web server.
Other solutions, which communicate with database applications, are much slower
because of this. Also, because a database program does not need to be running,
RAM requirements for FormSaver are minimal.
- It's so easy to set up and use!
- IPP's: Any user on your server can easily set up a form that uses FormSaver.
This means your users don't need to do scripting, nor do they need to
run custom software to handle their forms. Not only does this make life much
easier for your users, it greatly reduces security risks. Allowing users
to run custom software or scripts on your server is a serious security risk!

What is FS Secure?
FS Secure is a WebStar plugin that prevents hackers from accessing FormSaver data files.
This is especially useful for WebStar Personal Edition, which does
not support Realms. It is also recommended for WebStar users, because it is much simpler than
setting up Realms. It is not available as a CGI, and therefore does not work
with NetPresenz or MacHTTP. (MacHTTP supports Realms anyway; NetPresenz does not.)
FS Secure is FREE for all users of FormSaver, and is now bundled with FormSaver.
